My apologies for a lack of post this past week. My ridiculous semester has finally caught up to me, rendering me victim to the dastardly common cold. I am bravely fighting the good fight, with liberal doses of Gilmore Girls, but nevertheless, my mind is a cloud of incoherent thoughts. I regret to inform you that you will not be hearing from me again until I am able to compose a legible sentence.

TTFN.

Hi folks,

Yes indeed I should be posting something new right about now, but I am currently inundated with a couple large class assignments.

I do have a few posts in development right now, which I’m excited to share with you, so keep a look out for those next week and the following.

In the meantime, make sure to follow me on Twitter @highandlowblog where I post daily links to provocative material about media and culture. For instance, my favorite recent news story is from Wired about a new author using Instagram to produce a serialized, visual novel that utilizes the caption space to supplement the images with dialogue. It’s a fascinating project that is still in its early stages, so join me in tracking Rachel Hulin’s work. Whether or not her specific project is successful, it has definitely ushered in a new approach to storytelling.

And if you are looking for a new podcast, my recommendation for this week is Note to Self from WYNC. It’s a great tech show about being human . . . to steal host Manoush’s own catch phrase. This week’s episode investigated whether we should really be afraid of wireless radiation and past episodes have engaged questions like the ethics of posting our kids’ photos on social media. She covers a wide spectrum of topics related to the rapidly evolving digital age, so there is a little something for everyone. (My last post on ad blocking was inspired by a recent episode.)

Enjoy and I’ll see you next week!
